Catherine Tong

Executive Director

Catherine is a nonprofit leader with a communications and events background spanning 20 years. She joined the HandsOn Hong Kong team in 2016 to drive volunteer engagement, stepping into the Executive Director role in 2022. In this role she leads the team that empowers everyone to build a better Hong Kong through volunteering.

Catherine relentlessly pursues the HandsOn vision for a Hong Kong where no charity serves alone and no cause goes unsupported–by championing, advocating for and empowering the city’s less-resourced charities and volunteers. In 2024 she received a scholarship from the Harvard Business School Association Hong Kong to join the ‘Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management’ program at Harvard Business School in the US. Catherine also serves as Vice-Chair of the Global Network Affiliate Assembly for Points of Light–the world’s largest nonprofit dedicated to fostering civic engagement and volunteerism.

Prior to joining the non-profit sector, she led teams and ran flagship events at OgilvyOne and The Economist Group.
