With 1.37 million Hong Kong people living in poverty, it is critical that we each do our part to support communities in need. At HandsOn we harness the spirit to serve in our city by empowering everyone in Hong Kong to volunteer.

Our efforts to empower volunteers

Each month, we run 200 volunteer activities as a free public service, empowering and uplifting not only the lives of those we serve, but also the lives of our volunteers. We engage thousands of corporate volunteers each year, offering them meaningful opportunities to make a difference while fostering team building. With over 45,000 volunteers in the HandsOn community connecting with tens of thousands of individuals and critical causes each year, we pledge to continue harnessing this people power to build a better Hong Kong.

Our support for the non-profit sector

Our capacity building expertise includes consulting, connecting, program planning, training, and volunteer management. Every day of the year, we provide essential behind-the-scenes assistance and trusted advisory to our charity partners, acting as a vital extension of their teams.

Volunteer

As a HandsOn Youth Empowered Leader, I had the privilege of leading programs that brought joy and connection to isolated elderly individuals. I organised weekly board game sessions, creating a safe haven for seniors living with dementia. Mentoring a team of high school students inspired me as much as it inspired them, as we worked together at an elderly daycare centre. Volunteering has shown me the profound impact we can have on our city and its people.

Client Services S&P Global

Associate Director

For the past three years, S&P Global has partnered with HandsOn Hong Kong as part of our commitment to help build inclusive, sustainable communities. Together, we have been able to contribute over 300 hours of volunteer services to have an impact on local farmland rehabilitation and coastal restoration efforts, as well as extending support and care for Hong Kong’s most vulnerable groups. Working together with shared goals and being able to lean on HandsOn’s expertise was key in empowering our colleagues to put ideas into action and create meaningful change.

Social Worker

Our weekly learning support group is run by a fantastic group of volunteers. HandsOn helps us to recruit passionate volunteers who are interested in serving children with hearing impairments—and who want to give back to the community. Volunteers get involved in homework and study support, languages, English tutoring, and more. Along the way, our services have got so much stronger with their support.
Faith Hui

Youth Volunteer Leader

I got the chance to meet new people, which was good for me. It expanded my social circle and I felt less lonely. Volunteering kept me mentally stimulated and added depth to my life. It meant quite a bit of work, but it didn’t feel like a weight on my shoulders — it lifted my spirits!

Every single day we get help from this incredible organization. Their caring staff help us out not just in relieving us of volunteer management and recruiting volunteers–but also in mobilizing compassionate people who are prioritizing care for the less fortunate in the city.
